I got the chance during last week to go to Scotland and visit Ioanid while helping his friend Igor develop an iPhone app.

Me on the famous stone bridge on the old golf course
It has been an exciting journey in a place with a many of differences from the Denmark I got quite used to. It was a bit weird at first to see buildings made out of stone, cars on the left side of the road and people not using credit cards that much, but this currency called pound (or quid) which I had never used before.
St. Andrews is a very very nice place with buildings made out of stone and with average age of 110 years (warning: guesstimate). It's also one of the birth places of golf. And ohh man... those people know their history and traditions! I've seen people get married on their traditional music sang by a scot in traditional clothing with a real bagpipe and students graduating in the university traditional robes (designed hundreds of years ago) and on the same traditional bagpipe music... amazing!
Let's talk adventures! The trip there and back again has been a timed, modern day transportation system miracle consisting of one train, three buzzes and one plane in less than 10 hours. I've also had some airport glitches. I had the metal detector beep on me both ways (as usual Danes were calm and relaxed, scots got a bit serious), I got my deodorant confiscated and my toothpaste put in one of those bags. I know it's regulations, but Danes had no problem with it. On the way there the customs policeman took a minute to do a thorough check of me and my rap sheet (thanks to some you Romanians in Denmark making trouble and stealing). I also felt a bit embarrassed by Romania being like the only EU country whose identity cards and passports are not electronically scannable. It takes 5 to 10 seconds for a scannable ID to be cleared and 30 to 40 for the Romanian one (police officers have to type the id number manually).
I got the chance to see some computer interfaces that I can learn something from, but that is going to be another post.
I expect to be in Ã…rhus in about an hour and I am quite excited about traveling to Romania in one and a half weeks.
P.S. I upgraded my iPhone to iOS 4 and so far it nice and fast
