What to use to defragment the harddrive

When the computer seems to be working slower than usual most of the times the disk fragmentation is to blame. Since Windows Vista ships with a spartan and sometimes annoying defragmenter, the only solution is to use one of your chosing. Although I'm mostly using Linux where I shouldn't have problems with drive defragmentation, I still have some fragmentable paritions (NTFS and FAT32). When those drives become fragmented Defraggler becomes my best friend.

Fragmentation occurs usually after long usage of the drive and after writing large amounts of data.

Installation

Defraggler is a freeware software (not to be confused with open source) so you can download it freely off the web. Just download the setup executable, double click it and then the usual Next, Next, Finish.

Features

Defraggler has a simple interface and not too many options, it's why I like it. Also, unlike the bundled defragmenter in Windows Vista, it does a much better job at showing the operation's progress. You can also schedule the defragmentation operations. Have fun using it!

Introduction

Deși cel mai mult folosesc Linux unde nu ar trebui să am probleme cu defragmentarea harddiscurilor, totuși mai am unel partiții fragmentabile (NTFS și FAT32). Când volumele alea se fragmentează Defraggler devine cel mai bun prieten al meu.
Fragmentarea apare de obicei după o utilizare lungă a patiției / harddiscului și după scrieri de volume mari de date.

Instalarea

Defraggler este sfotware gratuit (a nu se confunda cu open source) deci poți să-l descarci gratuit de pe web. Pur și simplu descacă executabilul de instalare, dubli clic și apoi tradiționalele Next, Next, Finish.

Facilități

Defraggler are o interfață simpă și nu prea multe opțiuni, ceea ce îmi place. De asemenea, spre deosebire de programul de degragmentare care vine odată cu Windows Vista, face o treabă mult mai bună în a arăta progresul operațiunii curente. Poți de asemenea să setezi operațiuni de defragmentare care să ruleze automat la anumite intervale. Distrează-te folosindu-l!
